So out Christmas shopping today and I came across a gift that was a blast from the past

I remember these think it was 1970's they were popular and it was nice to see them again. I don't know about you but I rarely print photos any more they are all online! So the idea of printing and exhibiting them like this is really appealing to me. I can see a long shelf with lots of these on display making a constantly evolving piece of art. Now just need to decide what room could house this!

This is a 1960 Kitchen Dresser that i upcycled and sold this year. I bought it from a house clearance outlet and stripped it back cleaned and painted inside and out. I really loved this unit, definately need to hunt out another one sinilar!

Here are some chairs I have just finished working on. They are 1960 Ercol chairs that have been stripped back and the back rest painted and the seat and chair legs have been waxed.

Today I made some labels for my chairs. I have a large collection of home decor magazines so decided to cut some text from them and play. I added the text to some luggage labels and hey presto!! I like that each one will be different.

I have recently been busy upcycling old pieces of furniture and wanted to share some of these pieces with you. The first is a lovely 1960's chair that was in a sad state when I got it. It has been sanded back and painted in zingy colours and upholstered with a check oilcloth. Loving this little chair!

This is an installation of 3,oo paper beads that I made by hand from recycled children's comics. It visually represents the 3,ooo children that die from malaria every day throughout Africa. This work was exhibited in a joint exhibition in a charity shop in Edinburgh.

Big Draw day 5

Went to another "Big Draw" event today in Edinburgh. The event was East meets West and was organized by a Japanese calligraphy artist Ransyu and a contemporary Japanese painter Komachi Goto. Did some drawing influenced by Japanese design and had a go at calligraphy. Will post more images when I get round to scanning them. I loved watching Ransyu doing her calligraphy. The marks are so expressive.
